About Me
I'm Ryan Smith, and I have been writing software since around the turn of the century.  I'm not really sure how I got started writing sotware, but I have always been interested in computers.  What really made me decide to become a professional programmer was working with Microsofts .NET framework

Since I have been professionally writing code, I haven't had a whole lot of opportunity to write any software in the .NET framework.  I have, however, learned many new technologies that I find equally interesting.

Lately I have been spending quite a bit of time in the open source world, which is compleatly different from the Microsoft.  Both have their goods and their bads, and I would not say one is better in all situations than the other.

.NET is easily the best programming framework to use if your going to write Windows applications, but when your creating software for the web, it's really the matter of preference.  I think this is because no matter what the framework does, it all comes down to HTTP requests that serve out either HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or XML.
